She was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Bert and Bessie Tennant. She was a member of The Church of Christ in Lubeck, loved to cook, do gardening, canning, quilting, loved flower gardens and having her grandchildren come and stay. She retired from the Board of Education after 28 years of service as a cook.
She married the late Paul White in 1945 and they lived and raised their children at Wadesville until he passed away. She lived in Lubeck until her health started failing.
She is survived by her children, Janet Penn of Washington, W.Va., Jim White and his wife, Linda, of Belleville, Linda Copen and her husband, Donnie "DC" Copen, of Elizabeth, Peggy and Donnie Shears of Elizabeth and Paulette and Tom Zacker of St. Louis; proud grandparent of 13 grandchildren, Debbie Snider, Diane McAtee, Julie Deems, Kelly Dowler, Cathy Life, Leslie Smith, Amy Johnson, Kim Serra, Penny Fender, Angela Copen, Brian Shears, Tammy Nemeth and Michelle Burks; 17 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and two very dear nieces, Opal Smith and Shirley Tennant.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy George and Vera Milhoan; and four brothers, Dick Tennant, Blenn Tennant, Clayvern Tennant and Clyde Tennant. Mother was the last one of this family.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Evangelist Eugene Conger officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Garden of Peace.
