He was a retired correctional officer at Maryland Correctional Institute.
He is survivied by his wife, Mary E. Johnson Sypolt; a daughter, Mrs. Nora L. Arnsparger of Hagerstown; a son, James A. Sypolt, Jr. of Hagerstown; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Interment was in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
