Services for J.P. Parker, 86, Brownsboro, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at Rock Hill Baptist Church.
Burial was in Jennings Mountain Cemetery under direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Parker died Feb. 25, 2011. He was born July 10, 1924, in Brownsboro. He served in the Army during World War II, receiving the PURPLE HEART and BRONZE STAR.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Parker; sons, Randy Parker and wife Charlotte Brownsboro and Dewayne Parker, New Chapel Hill, daughter, Joyce and Walt Morehouse,Tyler, stepson, Frank Furr; sister, Auweta Calvet, Brownsboro, 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vera Meeker Parker, his parents Ray and Opal Parker, and brothers Hugh Wayne and R. L. (Pinktom) Parker.
Visitation was at 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 26, 2011 at the funeral home.
