He was born October 9, 1915, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William and Roxie Carter.
He was a employee of the Desha County Road Department, and he was a faithful member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Gibson Carter.
At the time of his death, survivors include one son, Julius Carter, a ordained Pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, of Dumas; three daughters, Patricia A. Wallace and Sharon M. McGough, both of Dumas, and Glenda Diane Gillum of Monticello; one brother, D. H. Carter of Tyro; two sisters, Creola Lay of Houston, Texas and Georgia Brooks of Dumas; one half-sister, Lola Arrington of Monticello; nine grand-children and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with his Pastor and son, Julius Carter officiating the packed house service.
Burial was at Walnut Lake Cemetery in Pickens, Arkansas.
