Spanish American War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Army at Plattsburgh, New York, and served as a Private in Company H, 21sth US Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action at Santiago, Cuba. His medal was issued on June 22, 1899. The citation reads: "Gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines and while under heavy fire of the enemy".
