Obit in The Anthon Herald, 22 March 1978, page 5: Mrs. Charles Osborne, 68, a widely known Anthon resident and justice of the peace, died Sunday, March 12, 1978, at a Sioux City hospital. Services were held Wednesday, March 15, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist church in Anthon with Rev. Edward Schaller officiating. Pallbearers were Sherman Osborne, Willard Osborne, Flint Smith, Pat Swan, George Sargent and Gail Brant. Graveside rites were held by Anthon American Legion Auxiliary McNiff Post #396. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Mrs. Osborne, the former Lucilla Louisa Fredricka Mundt, was born November 14, 1909, near Battle Creek and wile a child moved with her family to the Midway community near Anthon and later to Anthon, Mapleton and Battle Creek. She married Charles Osborne on February 10, 1927, in Ida Grove and the couple lived in Battle Creek, Kingsley, Galva and Cushing before moving to Anthon in 1939. She was active in community affairs in Anthon and was a justice of the peace at the time of her death. She and her husband had owned and operated a sale barn, a Skelly service station, the Minneapolis Implement and an antique shop, and they also farmed. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Anthon and was the current treasurer of the group. She was past secretary of the Woodbury County American Legion Auxiliary, a past board member for the Woodbury County March of Dimes and past noble grand of the Rebekah lodge. Survivors include the widower, two sons, Charles Jr. of Buffalo, Missouri and Ernest of Anthon, three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Mary Lee) Smith of Pueblo, Colorado; Ms. Lucretia Ann Williams of Buffalo, Missouri; and Mrs. Carroll (Melissa Jane) Smith of Arion, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Marie Glazier of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Watkins of Buffalo, Wyoming; a brother, Eric Mundt of Whittier, California; a sister, Mrs. George (Edna) Folks of Galena, Illinois; one stepsister, Mrs. Virgil (Charlotte) Hutchison of Sac City, 27 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded by a stepson, John Osborne, her parents, one sister, one brother, and two grandsons, Micky and Mark.
