Jane Tisdale McAlduff, 86, of Oak Ridge, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009.

She was born April 23, 1922, in Nashville, Tenn., the daughter of Eli Melvin Tisdale and Cherry Orchard Tisdale.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. McAlduff enjoyed gardening, playing golf and needlework. She served many years as a volunteer with the Oak Ridge Hospital as a Pink Lady and Gray Lady. She had also been active for many years with the Timely Topics Women's Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Tom Tisdale; and grandson, David Edward Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Harold James McAlduff Jr., with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on July 31, 2009.

She is also survived by daughters, Janice M. Cole and husband, Phillip, of Lenoir City, Marcia McLendon and husband, William, of Loudon, and Sharon Vance and husband, Mark, of Knoxville; grandchildren, James Steven Jones and wife, Jamie, of Clinton, Matthew Vance, Kerry Vance and Caroline Vance, all of Knoxville; and great-grandchildren, Katie Jones, Steven Jones and Ben Jones of Clinton.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Diana Long, her caretaker for the past several months, whose compassionate and loving care was invaluable.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Stella Roberts officiating. Graveside services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
