… This Indenture made the fifth day of February in the Year One thousand Seven hundred and seventy nine Between Henry Keiffer of York Township in the County of York and State of Pennsylvania Yeoman (the Surviving oldest Son and Heir at Law of Abraham Keiffer late of Codorus Township Who died Intestate) of the One part; And Jacob Speck of the Township of Codorus Weaver of the Other part, Whereas Casper Keiffer by his Indenture bearing Date the fourteenth day of November in the Year One thousand seven hundred sixty-three, for the Consideration therein mintioned did grant and convey unto the said Abraham Keiffer, All that Improvement and Tract of Land whereon the said Casper then dwell Situate in codorus township in the forks of Codorus Creek, To Hold to him the Said Abraham Keiffer his Heirs and Assigns forever, as in and by the said Indenture Entered in the Office for Recording of Diids for the County of York in Book B page 193, may appear, And Whereas in pursuance of a Warrant granted unto the said Casper Keifer, in trust for the Heirs of the said Abraham Keiffe, bearing date the ninetheenth Day of december 1766, there was Surveyed and laid out on both sides of codorus Creek, Two hundred thirty five Acres and one hundred & forty six perches of Land and the Allowance of six per ?? for ?roads do. As by the said Warrant and Survey remaining in the Surveyor Genreals Office may appear Now this Indenture Witnesseth, that in Consideration of the sum of Nine Hundred pounds Lawful money of the said State to the said Henry Keiffer in hand paid by the said jacob Speck the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged he the said Henry Keiffer Hath granbted bargained and sold, and by these preseents Doth grant bargain and sell unto the said jacob Speck his Heirs and Assigns All that the following described Tract of Land, part of the aforesaid Tract, Beginning at a marked White Oak a Corner of the said Tract, standing on the West side of codorus Creek, thence

The Petition of Henry Keefer Eldest (Surviving) Son of Abraham
Keefer, late of York County Yeoman Deceased,

Was Read,
Setting forth,
That the Petitioner's Father, Abraham Keefer, lately died Intestate, owner of a Plantation and Tract of Land, situated On Codorus Creek, in the said County, adjoining the Lands of Jacob Fleegar, Jacob Shaffer and Jacob Stoner, Containing One Hundred and Seventy five Acres ____
That the said Intestate left a Widow named Christina, since intermarried with Jacob Welshantz and lawful Issue to survive him, Namely Lodowick, his eldest Son (since deceased) of full Age Intestate and without Wife or Issue;_____Henry the Petitioner,______ A Daughter named Catherine, intermarried with Jacob Speck; and a Younger Son named Frederick,
That The Relict of the said Intestate and the Children aforesaid (now living) Hold the said Tract of Land in common Undivided,
That The Petitioner Therefore Prays the Court would Please, To Order An Inquest, To View the Premisses, And to make Partition thereof, To and Amongst, The Relict and surviving Children, Agreeable To the Directions of the Acts of Assembly in such Case provided; If the same Land and Premisse will admit of such Partition without Prejudice To and spoiling the Whole, But if the same will not Admit of such Division, Then to Value the Whole undivided:

Which being Con[sidered] by the Court It is Thereupon Ordered, That an Inquest be appointed Agreeable To the Prayer of the [said] Petition, And That Return thereof be mad[e] the next Orphans Court,

This Inquisition held and taken at Codoros Township in the County of York and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the late dwelling plantation of Abraham Keefer deceas'd, Before William Rowan Esq High Sheriff of the afforesaid and Upon the Solemn Oaths and Affirmations of Peter Wolf Esqr. And Rynard Butt, John Ehrman, Jacob May, Jacob Shook, Paul Metztgar, Philip Jacob King, Francis Rymer, Stoppel Lowman, Valentine Frantz, Peter Solinger, Jacob Rothrock. Honest and Lawful Men of the County afforesaid Sworn and affirm'd, having respect to the true Value of the lands and Tenements With the Appurtenances in the Annexed order of Court Mentioned, to divide the Same between the other Surviving Children and Representatives of the Above deceas'd in the said Order of Orphants Court Mentioned, equaly As Near As could be Estimated. But in Case the Said lands And Tenements Will Not Admit of a division to And Among all the Said Surviving Children And Representatives of the Above deceased Without Prejudice to And Spoiling the Wh[ole] then to value the the Whole Undivided. Who upon their Oaths And Affirmations afforesaid do say that the said Land and tenements Will Not Admit of a division to And Amongst All the said Surviving Children & Representatives of the said deceased Without Prejudice to and Spoiling the Whole. And that they find the lands and tenements in the Said Order of Court Mentioned Undivided to be of the Value of Two thousand pound lawful money of Pennsylvania subject Unto All debts and Arrearage of Quitrents due And to become due thereon unto the Honourable The propriaters of Pennsylvania for the Same. In Testimony Whereof the Said Sheriff as also the Jurers & affirmants afforesaid have hereunto Set their hands and Affixed their Seals this fourteenth day of May in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy eight______
