ATCHISON, KS - Matthew Kyle Dickson, 20 years old, of Atchison, KS, died Friday, July 10, 2009, from an automobile accident on US Hwy 73 west of Atchison, KS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15th, in the New Life Assembly of God Church, 1004 S. 5th St., Atchison, KS, with Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Sumner Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM Wednesday until time of services in the church. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home. He attended Patton Jr. High School, Ft. Leavenworth, where he enjoyed playing football. Mr. Dickson graduated from Atchison High School in 2006. He had worked in the shipping department for Blish-Mize, as an evening shift manager at McDonald's in Atchison, KS, and then as a cook for the Child Development Center, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Matthew enjoyed work on his car, swimming, fishing, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan. Survivors include his parents, Jay L. and Shirley J. (Barnes) Dickson of the home, Atchison, KS; a brother, Robert "Robbie" Dickson, and his fiancée Sami Gibson, both of Atchison, KS; a sister, Kristin "Cricket" Dickson, of the home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Barnes, Michigan City, IN; paternal grandfather; Robert "Bob" Dickson, Hamlet, IN; and paternal step-grandmother, Cathy Hanselman, Hamlet, IN; nine uncles, Bill (Tammy) Barnes, Brian (Dorie) Barnes, Dave Barnes, all of Michigan City, IN, Russell Dickson, Scott (Sherri) Dickson, Hamlet, IN, Jeff Dickson, Doug (Theresa) Dickson, Knox, IN, Steve (Jill) Dickson, German Town, OH, and Chad Dickson, Valparaiso, IN; three aunts, Lisa Downes, Michigan City, IN, Beverly "Jody" Dickson and Annie Dickson, both of Knox, IN; several cousins; and girlfriend, Shondrika Caullier, Horton, KS.
