Ruth Bowlus, a Hollister resident, died May 16. She was 89. Mrs. Bowlus was born in Central City, Nebraska and came to Hollister from San Fernando. She was a member of the Simi Valley Presbyterian Church, Wings of History in Morgan Hill and the Soaring Society of America. Mrs. Bowlus is survived by her son, Chuck Bowlus of Sparks, Nev., son Jack Bowlus of Hollister, sister Prudence Preston of Burbank, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Hawley Bowlus who died in 1967, four sisters, and sons Richard Bowlus and Bill Bowlus. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday at the home of Jack and Marian Bowlus, 3891 Cienega Road, Hollister. Rev. E. Lloyd Evans will conduct the service. Donations are preferred to Wings of History, c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
