The Warren County native was born Aug. 8, 1912. She was a retired inspector at Fruit of the Loom/The Derby, where she worked from 1950-1977. She was a member of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, graduated eighth grade from Old Union School and graduated from Woodburn High School in 1929. She played basketball for Woodburn High School for three years. She was on the Woodburn High School team that won the state tournament.
She later married Jack Tabor in 1932. She was saved by the Grace of God at the age of 42, and is one of Old Union Baptist Church's oldest members.
Survivors include a daughter, Dee Gilliam of Bowling Green.
A step-son, Raymond Tabor of San Antonio Texas.
Four Grandchildren, Jeffery Gilliam and his wife Erin of Plano Texas, Janice Matthews and her husband Tim of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jack Heraldson and his wife Stacy of Texas and Chris Heraldson of Louisville.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Vannah Kirby Whitlock, husband Jack Tabor, 2 daughters, Susie Heraldson an Yvonne Tabor. A son, Billy Tabor a grandson, Michael Gilliam. 2 sisters, Mary Daniel, and Carrie Ferguson and 2 brothers, Henry and hubert Whitlock.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at J. C. Kirby Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
