Hornitos Born Grandparent Of Actress Dies
MERCED, Merced Co. - Final services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Katherina F. Morrison, 91 year old grandmother of Merced born Hollywood actress Janet Leigh, who died yesterday in a Los Angeles rest home after a long illness.
Entombment will be in the Evergreen Mausoleum.
Mrs. Morrison, a native of Hornitos, Mariposa County, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Reeb, early settlers of the Hornitos region. She married John Morrison in March, 1889, and they lived in Hornitos until 1920, then moved to Merced and lived here until 1942. John Morrison died in 1941.
Miss Leigh, the former Jeanette Morrison, was reared by her grandparents for much of her early life.
Mrs. Morrison also leaves three sons, Edward C. of Hornitos, John L. and George H. Morrison of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Thurber of Oakland and Mrs. Lena Stanley, of San Miguel, San Luis Obispo County, two other grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
