Zillie is the daughter of Charles Henry and Caldora Elizabeth (nee Beach) Farris and the granddaughter of William Henry and Sarah Elizabeth (nee Williamson) Beach.

She married first Fred and they had two children (still living son and daughter) before they divorced.

She married second Willis Young Steen and they had one son (still living) before they divorced.

Her third marriage to Ralph F. Mutchie also ended in divorce, but issued no children.

Her fourth marriage was to Brad in June 1947, whom she remained married until his death. This marriage issued no children.

She was laid to rest next to Brad.
