J. Allen Rebert was born September 26, 1877, and died September 14, 1948, aged 70 years, 11 months, and 18 days.
The entire community was shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected death which occurred while assisting his tenant farmer to clean seed wheat. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure.
Mr. Rebert had been an honored and respected citizen of both the Jefferson and Brodbeck communities. As a farmer, a farm-owner, and as a public official; as a husband, neighbor and friend he had endeared himself to all who knew him.
He was a loyal member and liberal supporter of Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church, Jefferson, Pa. The church records reveal that he was baptized November 30, 1877, by the Rev. Jacob D. Zehring; that he was received into church membership by confirmation, October 16, 1892 by the Rev. Franklin A. Guth. He served three terms as deacon.
He was twice married. His first wife was Della Stauffer, who died January 19, 1910. On December 3, 1916 he was married to Lettie Mae Brodbeck, who survives to mourn his death.
The funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, September 17, 1948, with all the services at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock, Pa., and burial in the Jefferson Cemetery. The funeral text was I Peter 1:3, 4.
