(December 3, 1931 - August 28, 2008)

Mr. Lester A. Crawn, 76, of Nahunta died Thursday afternoon at Southeast Georgia Health Systems. He was born in Sussex, (Sussex Co) New Jersey to the late Elmer Crawn and Vernie Lawson Crawn. Mr. Crawn lived in Gouverner, New York where he operated a dairy farm for 19 years. He then moved to Nahunta where he has made his home for the past 30 years. Mr. Crawn was presently self-employed as a commercial crabber. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Hazelton Crawn, Elmer "Bud" Crawn, Emmett Crawn, and four sisters, Viola Pittenger, Jennie Smith, Margaret Snover, and Mary Harter.

Mr. Crawn is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan C. Crawn of Nahunta, a son, Lester Crawn, Jr., of Nahunta, two daughters, Sharon Lee and her husband Wesley of Hoboken, Sandra Hyatt and her husband David of Hortense, Georgia, four grandchildren, Ashley Crews and her husband Erik of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Amy Lee of Alma, Georgia, Brittany Rhoden of Waynesville, Georgia, Kimberly Clark of Hortense, Georgia, two great grandchildren, Faith Crews of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Kyle Rhoden of Hortense, Georgia, three brothers, Allen Crawn and his wife Henrietta of New York, Richard Crawn and his wife Ellen of New York, John Crawn of New York, a sister, Cora Schoonover of Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 3 pm, Sunday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
