"God needed a family in His all perfect plan, so in 1974, Gary Pat, his wife, Helen Carol, and their sons, Steven, Mark, age 16, Kenneth Craig, age 14, and Larry Dean, age 8, were killed in an airplane wreck near the Springfield Airport. Gary was an instructor in the Garden City Community College, and Helen taught at Georgia Mathews School in Garden City, Kansas. They are buried in the family plot in the Springfield Cemetery."
