Don Francisco de Asís Alfonso Jaime Cristóbal Víctor José Gonzalo Cecilio de Borbón y Martínez-Bordiú was the eldest son of Alfonso Jaime Marcelino Manuel Víctor María de Borbón y Dampierre, Duque de Cadiz, Grandee of Spain, and his wife, María del Carmen Martínez-Bordiú y Franco, 2nd Duquesa de f Franco, Grandee of Spain. His father was a grandson of Alfonso XIII, King of Spain and his wife, born Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. His mother was the granddaughter of Generalísimo Francisco Franco.

He was accorded the title in pretense, Duc de Bourbon, in relation to his father's claim as the legitimist heir to the throne of France.

He died in an automobile accident as his father was driving home from a ski trip in the Pyrenees
