He was born on October 10, 1933 in Jersey City, NJ, where he spent his childhood. He was the son of the late Alfred and Hedwig (Rasmussen) Aanonsen, and the younger brother of the late Herbert Aanonsen and the late Catherine (Aanonsen) Lillis.
His beloved wife, Mabel Marlene (Jay) Aanonsen passed away in 2016 after 57 years of marriage.
George was a longtime resident of Clinton, NJ where he lovingly raised his family, which was a true gift to his children as they have all developed such fond friendships and memories from growing up in this beautiful small town.
George had a successful career in the plastics industry where he was a mold designer at companies including the Ideal Toy Company.
He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954, at sea on the USS Kula Gulf for almost two years of his enlistment. He was very proud of his time as a sailor.
George was an involved and fun father and was very active in his children's activities, including the Boy Scouts, the YMCA Indian Guides and the Community Athletics. He loved going to LBI with his wife, as it was where they got engaged, and it continued to be a special place for them. George was very committed to his wife Mabel and was a loyal and loving caretaker for her as her health declined.
