Musical Folk Figure. He was a French-Chilean folk figure, son to legendary folk musician, composer, and singer Rodolfo Parada, a long-time member of the famous Chilean group "Quilapayún." Born Matías Parada Hernández, he was the eldest child to Rodolfo Parada-Lillo and his wife Loreto Hernández. He and his sister Elisa were raised in France, where their parents got exiled during the Pinochet dictatorship, alongside other Quilapayún members, their relatives, and friends. Isabel Parra dedicated to him the song "A Round for a Chilean Child: Matías," where he and other children born and raised with the band are mentioned. Parra released the song on her recording "About What I'm and I'm Not (1979)." Years later, Matías died on September 20th, 2013, at the age of 39, as a result of cancer.
