Mary grew up and lived in Gagetown for many years, graduating from Gagetown High School in 1940 and going on to attend Bay City Business School. She was Postmaster at the Gagetown Post Office for forty years, an anchor for the Gagetown community. Mary was actively involed in the community, acting as treasurer of the Owen-Gage School Board, volunteering at the Thumb Octagon Barn, being a member of the Our Lady Consolata Parish, and organizing many of the town's improvement efforts. She was an adventurous traveler, visiting all seven continents including Antarctica, Australia and Europe. Mary was an avid golfer, playing until the age of ninety-three. For years, she split her time between her home in Gagetown and her second home in Lehigh Acres, Florida. She was a social being with many friends, many of whom she would join for card playing and other social ventures. Mary loved to laugh and have a great conversation with whoever was around.
