He was the son of Edward and Jessamine (Adams) McCullough. Edward married Barbara Voss on May 30, 1941, in Madison, Wisconsin, and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2006. He graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1938 with a degree in Pharmacy. He was the Owner and Operator of McCullough's Prescriptions and Gifts, with stores starting in Lake Geneva in 1950 then opening in Walworth, Whitewater and Jefferson and two locations in Delavan. He was a very active member in the Lake Geneva Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lake Geneva Lions Club and a member of the Lake Geneva Badger High School Board. He was also a Board Member for M&I Banks and the 1st National Bank of Lake Geneva and the Eli Lilly Company.
