JoAnn Arbutus Rickett, 89, of Hagerstown, passed away, Friday, October 7, 2022, at Creekside Manor Assisted Living. Born January 27, 1933, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Herman Bond, Sr. and Anna Mae (Pepple) Bond. JoAnn was a 1951 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Antietam Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; Independent Junior Fire Co. Engine 3 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary MD State Firemen's Association. JoAnn liked to play Bingo, watch old westerns and NASCAR, travel the east coast, and vacation with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Rickett, Sr.; one brother, Thomas H. Bond, Jr.; one sister, Betty L. Stottlemyer; daughter-in-law, Sharon L. Sprecher; two grandchildren, Terry L. Higgins, Jr. and Tania K. Higgins; and great grandson, Logan Sellers. JoAnn is survived by her children, Debby Jo Stearns, Brenda K. Higgins, and husband, Terry; James Sprecher, Jr., Keith Sprecher, and wife, Barb, and Melody Hancock, and wife, Amy; ten grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one on the way; one niece and one nephew. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Services will be 11am Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Fraley will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Antietam Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, 790 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
