William Keith, sixth Earl Marischal was the eldest son of George, 5th Earl Marischal and Margaret Home, daughter of Alexander, 5th Lord, Home.
Married Margaret Erskine, daughter of John, Earl of Mar. They had four sons, William the 7th Earl Marischal; George, 8th Earl Marischal;, Hon Sir Robert Keith; and John, 1st Earl of Kintore; 3 daughters Mary, Jane, Anne.
William died at his Castle Dunnottar and was buried in the church there Dec 26.
