Born Aug. 31, 1945, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles G. Hadley and Rhoda F. Kipe Hadley Powell.
Mary was a 1963 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
She was a member of former Mount Tabor United Brethren Church, where she served as junior church teacher.
Mary was employed as a sales associate by Bon-Ton at Valley Mall for 20 years. She loved the video Christmas card.
Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Durand "Joe" Nelson Betts, whom she married Jan. 16, 1964; two sons, Joseph D. Betts of Hagerstown, Md., and Nelson D. Betts and wife, Karen, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Dana Betts of Hagerstown, Md,; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles G Hadley Jr. of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two brothers-in-law, Aubrey J. Betts and wife, Linda, and Thomas Chedester of Hagerstown, Md.; one aunt, Noral McCoy; three nieces; four nephews; and many cousins.
Services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. Pastor Milton Herron will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 9, 2015, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
