Heaven gained a great man, Richard Gene Fiorelli passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 31, 2021 at the age of 91 years old. He was the beloved son of Margaret Hetty Morar and Gene Fiorelli, born in Akron, Ohio on the Fourth of July 1929, both of whom predeceased Richard.

He was known to everyone by his nickname Dick. As a boy, growing up in the Depression, he was doted on by his numerous aunts and uncles who built him a tricycle, a car, and a boy-sized gas station out of empty peanut butter jars. As a teenager Dick worked at his uncle's grocery store, stocking shelves and manning the cash register with his grandfather. The family moved to DuBois, Pennsylvania when he was a sophomore in high school. Dick took a part time job working on Ercoupe airplanes, learning the nuances of its design, igniting a lifelong interest in the mechanics of engines. He graduated from DuBois High School in the class of 1947. He raced stock cars, enjoying his passion of working on engines of all kinds, becoming expert at all things mechanical.

He joined the Army and served honorably between 1951 and 1953, stationed in Georgia. His gregarious mischievous personality gained him lifelong friends and innumerable hilarious experiences. Dick married Nancy Shaw in 1954, who survives him. Dick and Nancy were married 66 years, amassing friends who loved them everywhere they lived. They had two children, Diane Fiorelli Klein and David Gene Fiorelli, who survive him. The family moved to Oil City, PA where Dick worked at PPG Industries, then moved to Tampa, Florida with Nelson Brantley Glass Company, and later to Dallas, Texas.

Dick enjoyed being the life of the party, playing cards and board games with generations of friends, family and grandchildren. He was always willing to fix anything that needed fixed - toys, boats, cars, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs - sometimes imparting his voluminous knowledge, but often just working his magic through experience. In addition to wife Nancy; daughter Diane and husband Bob; and son David and wife Susan; all of Coppell, Texas; Dick is survived by his sister, Shirley Danko of Nokomis, Florida; grandson Mitchell Fiorelli, and wife Mary; granddaughter Abigail Armstrong and husband Christopher; nephew Cristofe Chabot; nieces Bobbie Mohney and Nancy Verdill; step-grandchildren Shannon Mossotti, Brenna Palmer, and Michael Palmer. We will miss Dick greatly and will celebrate his humor, generosity and love through our collective memories and photos. He was one of a kind, born on the Fourth of July and passed away on Memorial Day!
