Marie Constance Say was the daughter of Constant Andre Say and his wife, Jeanne Marie Emilie Wey. Her paternal grandfather, Louis Auguste Say, was the founder of the Say sugar company and amassed a sizable fortune. She was married in Paris on June 7, 1875 to Prince Henri Amédée de Broglie (1849-1917) and was subsequently known as Princess Amédée de Broglie. She was, rather controversially, married morganatically in London on September 19, 1930 to Don Luis Fernando d'Orléans y Borbón, Infant of Spain, when she was seventy-two years of age and he was forty-one.
