He was the son of the late John Benson and Irene Bennett Tannery, and was predeceased by two brothers, John and Robert; a sister, Louise Madden; and two nephews, Mark Crawford and Tony Shaw.
Surviving family members are sisters, Catherine Callaway and Jo Ann Shaw of Anderson, SC, Linda Taylor of Piedmont, SC, and Ollie Mae Crawford, of Seneca, SC; brother Julian Tannery of Stanley, NC; one nephew; and 7 nieces; and one very special niece, Rhonda Brewer, who accompanied him to numerous medical appointments and hospital stays during his extended illness, providing moral support and assistance when other family members could not be with him.
Randall was born with a determined spirit and never liked to be confined; that remained his distinguishing trait throughout his life. He loved car racing, and social life for him was to be downtown chatting with those he knew in the restaurants and service stations.
James, as he was know by his co-workers at J.P. Stevens & Co in Clemson, SC, retired after twenty plus years, due to health conditions, and continued his struggle to live independently almost until the end of his life.
Funeral Services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2011 from the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, following the Service at Sandifer Funeral Home. The family is at their respective homes. Flowers are accepted. Condolences may be expressed online at www.sandiferfuneralhome.com
