Mr. Daniel Albert “Danny” Davis, Sr., age 64, of Sandersville died Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Augusta University Hospital. A service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

Danny was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Bennett Albert Davis and the late Mary Zelma Waller Davis. He spent his entire working career as a truck driver and mechanic. Much of his life Danny was self-employed, and he formerly worked for Davis Tractor Company and Logging Inc. He was also a carpenter on the side and loved to fish and hunt Danny was a great cook and known for his BBQ sauce. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son Daniel Albert “D.J.” Davis, Jr.

Survivors include: his wife Avis Kicklighter Davis; children, Ben Davis, Dianne Pope, Donna Hodges and her spouse Benji, all of Sandersville, L.J. Kenmar and his spouse Shawn of Dallas, TX, Liz Hadden, Darlene Davis and Alicia Davis her significant other, Bobby Dollar all of Sandersville; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; aunts, Marion Waller and Rubye Mobley, both of Sandersville, and Jodeene Davis of Louisville; and his uncle Charlie Davis of Avery.

May and Smith Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
