Her father was James Harvey Evans, who taught music and was in the Civil War from Ohio . moved back and forth to Greenup Ky. to Adams CO, Ohio then to Iroquios Co. Il. and finally on to Missouri. I have 2 great grandmothers named Mary Jane Cook. This Mary Jane Cook was the daughter of John Cook of PA. John's son and Mary Jane's brother Josiah Cook married one of Netta's father's sisters. She weighed about ninety pounds, had grey eyes and Strawberry blonde hair down to her waist and wore it in a chignon when she was older. She loved to cook and always had a dozen or more for Sunday dinner. She always had a garden. I never heard her speak a harsh word or one in anger. She and her Husband bought the Old Carter farm near Logan Creek and it had a huge cave with a spring in it. (Grandfather was related to the Carter family through Frank DelCour that married Elizabeth Thurman. Senator Buford Carter's daughter married a Delcour.)
Netta was the proprietor of the Piedmont Hotel and lived in a home behind the hotel. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and playing the piano.
