Esmal Hamiter Climent, widow of Dr. Francis J. Climent and loving mother of the late Francis J. Climent Jr. died in Madrid, Spain on January 6, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Climent, her son-in-law, Camilo Gener and her grandchildren: Charles V. Climent, Krysta M. Depp, Thomas S. Climent, Sarah, Marta and Ana Gener. She also leaves twelve great grandchildren. Esmal ws born in Cove, Arkansas but her family moved to Port Arthur, Texas when she was just a baby. She was a true Texan at heart. Those who knew her would describe her as a beautiful lady (inside and out), independent, innovative, adaptable, loving, artistic, active and lots of fun to be with. She enjoyed good company, reading and traveling, not to mention gourmet food. She had been a resident of Sacramento from 1956 until 2000 and had been an active member in the Club Espanol, a club encouraging the Spanish language and cultures of Spain and South America. She died at the age of 98 years and seven months, and she led a full, rich and happy life. While in the hospital the last two weeks of her life, she received the holy sacraments of Baptism and Last Rites from the Roman Catholic Church. She was buried in the Almudena Cemetery of Madrid, Spain on January 7, 2010. She is sadly missed by her family and friends, but greatly remembered also. May her soul rest in peace.
