In addition to his wife, Carol, he is also survived by five children, Alan Schaffer and wife Sheila of Jefferson City, Aaron Schaffer and wife Erin of St. Anthony, Karen Gabelsberger and husband Brad of Frankenstein, Adam Schaffer and wife Kim of Clinton, and Kristy Schaffer and James McMahan of Arlington, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Avery Schaffer, Evan Schaffer, Savannah Schaffer, Everett Schaffer, Andrea Schaffer, Ariel Schaffer, Miranda Gabelsberger, Wyatt Gabelsberger, Kathryn Schaffer, Alyssa Schaffer, and Henry Schaffer; sister, Josephine Macdonald of Alexandria, Virginia; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Brenneke of Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Regina Schaffer, Marie Schaffer, Nettie Filipiak, Erma Gass, Leona Verhoff, and Henrietta Brenneke and two brothers, Louis Schaffer and Anton Schaffer.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 (noon), with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 12 p.m., on Tuesday, June 26, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Fr. Joby Thomas will officiate. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony Church or Ronald McDonald House.
