He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and its choir. Active in Freemasonry, he was a member of Hillman Lodge, F & A.M.; the Mahoning Consistory of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland. He was a member of American Legion and Elks Lodge.
Besides his mother of Youngstown, he leaves a daughter, Miss Carolyn Evans of Freeport, N.Y. and two sons, Robert H. of Freeport and Joseph H. of Youngstown.
