KINGSTON - John P. Fautz, 83 of Cross Street, Kingston, died suddenly Monday Feb. 20, 2012 at Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley, Kingston Hospital Campus. Born March 27, 1928 in Kingston he was a son of the late Joseph F., II and Marianna (Stopczynski) Fautz.
A United States Army Signal Corp veteran, John served his country during the Korean War. After the service, he and his late brother, Joseph F. Fautz, III, were partners in the construction business. He was a parishioner and usher at Saint Mary's Church, a member of the Steuben Society and the American Legion Post 150, Kingston.
Surviving are his children, Eric J. Fautz and his wife Michelle of Ulster Park, Karl P. Fautz and his wife Christine of Kingston and Eileen M. Matera and her husband Alessio P. of Cape Coral, Fla.; his grandchildren, Kathryn Fautz of Waterford, N.Y., Kenneth Fautz of Albany, Michael Fautz of Ulster Park, Erica Fautz of Ulster Park and Kirsten Fautz of Kingston. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
John was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Fautz, his daughter, Mary E. Fautz, sister, Rita Larkin and brother Joseph Fautz.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Attn: Members of Kingston Post 150 American Legion, a ritual is scheduled for Friday evening, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral procession will form 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church. Burial with military honors provided by the Joyce - Schirick Post 1386 VFW will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
