Actor, Animal Trainer. Born in Silver City, New Mexico, he was a member of the famous Weatherwax family of animal trainers. This included his father Walter, brothers Rudd (who trained Lassie), Frank, and William. He began his career as an animal trainer working for the Rennie Renfro Motion Picture Dogs, before taking up with his brothers in the 1940s. Weatherwax trained the dog Terry for his role as Toto in the classic film, "The Wizard of Oz" in 1939, and Devil for the 1961 film, "The Phantom", among many others. In 1947, he also appeared in the film, "Unconquered", as a medicine man but he was uncredited in the roles. He was married to Virginia Border in 1935, and then to Joy Featherstone in 1939. He died in North Hollywood, California, at the age of 58, in 1968.
