Kenneth William Yardley
February 11, 1942 - April 23, 2017 (age 75)

Kenneth Williams Yardley passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his winter home in Logandale, Nevada. He was born to Mary Editha Williams and John Rowland "Jack" Yardley on February 11, 1942 in Beaver, Utah. Ken was a member of the LDS Church. He grew up in Beaver and was very active in high school sports. He also, loved to dance and could be seen on the dance floor whenever there was music. He was a very hard worker and had several careers throughout his life. Ken worked on various farms and owned his own milking barn in Greenville, Utah for many years. He worked in construction for a few years and helped build a number of homes in Beaver and surrounding area, but he talked most about his job as the Beaver County Sheriff. He was a great leader and always willing to cover shifts if a deputy needed time off. He held this position for twenty years until he retired in 2006. In his quiet, unassuming manner, Ken helped innumerable people in many ways. A number of them commented on how he gave them a chance when others had given up on them.
Ken was always civic minded and contributed much to the community. As a member of the Beaver Jaycees, he helped build the canyon rodeo arena and ball complex, run race meets and rodeos.
Ken had a vast number of friends from all walks of life and touched many lives. His infectious laugh made him a joy to be around. After his retirement, he spent a good portion of his time riding his horses and dedicated himself to learning all he could about horse training. He attended clinics from the nation's best and used this knowledge to work with many adults and youth. He devoted countless hours to the Beaver Horse 4-H program in helping the kids learn how to ride, train their horses and learn the patterns. When he saw a need, he was always willing to give extra time. His passing left a big void in the program.
He married Nancy Smith on September 22, 2009. They resided in Greenville in the summer and Logandale, Nevada during the cold months. He had two sons by a previous marriage. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, son Sheb (Ronnie) Yardley, Las Vegas, Nevada, granddaughter Tiffany Yardley and great granddaughter Amoni, Beaver, Utah, brother John R. (Karen) Yardley, Santa Clara, Utah, brother Al (Eugeniaj. Tabab) Yardley, Spanaway, Washington, step sons and families, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his young son, Troy Yardley, twin sister, Edith Yardley Marshall, daughter- in -law, Karen Yardley, step-granddaughter, Heather Yardley, and his mother Editha and dad Jack Yardley.
He will be greatly missed by many on this earth, but reunited with loved ones on the other side including his much loved son Troy who died at the tender age of three.
Funeral services will be held at the Beaver Stake Center on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary. There will be viewing on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning prior to the services from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery.
