Mrs. Marks was born in Greer, a daughter of Liz Champion Barnett and George W. Barnett. She represented abused children in family court and volunteered with the Medical University of South Carolina, rocking AIDS infants. She was active in the revitalization of Ansonborough.
She was one of the youngest people the American Red Cross sent on assignment to Germany. She was a charter member of the Frances Willard Society and a member of the New York City Yale Club. She was a member of the Unitarian Church. She was first married to the late John F. Conroy and was the widow of Robert W. Marks.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Aitchek of Charleston; a son, John F. Conroy III of Charleston; and three grandchildren.
