Pete Bowersock was the youngest child of David Allen Bowersock, Jr. and Benet P. Bowersock. He was christened George John Bowersock when his family was living in Rhode Island. Not exactly relishing his given name, one day, the boy declared "my name is Pete." After his father's discharge from the service, Pete's family returned to California. They settled in Santa Cruz in 1956, and he attended Mission Hill Junior High School, and went on to graduate from Santa Cruz High. Pete loved surfing, skateboarding, girls, and was a talented athlete who excelled at baseball. Some of his favorite pastimes included reading, listening to music, and playing the guitar and drums. Pete Bowersock was beloved by all who knew him; and, by those who never really had a chance to know him. Uncle Pete left this world all too soon, the victim of an accidental shooting at the age of eighteen.
