Son of Richard Julian Pritchard and Christiana "Christy" Gunn.

Will and his sister Laura were childhood friends of the author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Willard Pritchard is thought to be the model for the literary character Gilbert Blythe in Montgomery's famous book "Anne of Green Gables."
