He was born on Nov. 1, 1945, in Shelby County to Arthur and Rosa (Wendel) Steinke, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 25, 1974, he married Deb Uppenkamp, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include a brother, Frank (Deb) Steinke; three sisters, Phyllis Ward, Elsie (Dale) McGlothen, Stime (Tim) Davis,;a sister-in-law, Dawn Steinke,;a brother-in-law, Paul Uppenkamp; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Dan Steinke who passed away on Feb. 12, 2016, and a brother-in-law, Hasroe Ward.
In 1984, Ivan bought S&S Hay Company, dealing in hay and straw. Dedicated with passion and hard work, Ivan and Deb were successful with their company. Ivan loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, riding horse, motorcycles, shooting trap and anything that involved outdoor activity. He loved to laugh and have a good time, there was never a dull moment when Ivan was around. He had a great love for animals. He was a big man with a great big soft heart. We love you Ivan and you will be truly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
