DOPSON, Walter Palmer, 99, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Paradise Hill, a small intimate Assisted Living Facility in Palm Bay with his children at his bedside. He was born in Aurora, Illinois, and came to Brevard County on December 20, 2010 from Hillsborough County, Tampa, Florida. Walter was a member of Our Lady of Grace in Palm Bay and a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Anne Arundel AP-76, a troop transport ship serving in battle in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He worked as a salesman and food broker for Dopson-Hicks Food Brokerage for 40 years, and then got to retire and travel the world over. He leaves his estranged wife, Betty Johnson; Dr. Linda Mackinnon, Betty Lee McNorrill, Walter Mac Dopson, and Deborah Dopson Hartley; grand-children, Tony, (Felicia) McNorrill, James L. McNorrill III (Grace) McNorrill, Amanda McNorrill, Dr. Natalie E. Dopson Meson (Patrick), Alexander M. Dopson (Laura) Michelle Hartley Willette (Brian) and Mark Hartley II; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn McNorrill, James L. McNorrill IV and Gabriela M. Dopson. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 4:00pm at Fountainhead Funeral Home. Fountainhead Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
