Richard Dean Thompson

Richard D. Thompson, 42, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2000. Rick was a loving husband, dad, son, brother and friend to many. He leaves behind his wife Karen, daughters Ashley and Melissa, mother and stepfather Sandra and Don Wallace, mother-in-law Genevieve Prusinowski, Sister Bonnie (Kevin) Sypolt, brothers-in-law Bernard (Lois), Thomas (Dawn) and Mark (Beth). Rick was preceded in death by his father George Bulina and father-in-law Bronislaus Prusinowski.
Rick was a machinist and QA inspector at S.G.S. Tool Company for 20 years, a member of the V.F.W. Post 1062, the Polish American Club and numerous bowling leagues over the years.
Born in Akron, he was a life resident of the Kenmore and North Hill area. As a child, Rick had a close relationship with his grandfather Fred Yester. His grandfather built a scale replica train that was set up in the yard on a track for Rick to ride and drive as he got older. On the weekends, Rick would go with his grandparents to play bingo and then have Canasta card parties at their house! Growing up Rick was especially close to his sister Bonnie. He was the typical big-brother-protector and they were the best of friends. They did many things together such as riding mini-bikes, playing games and cards, building Lego, playing with Hot Wheels, kickball-baseball-football with the neighborhood kids, ice skating on the pond, sharing a paper route, going to concerts and bowling!
Once married, Rick enjoyed family vacations to Myrtle Beach and Disney. But, he really enjoyed having family and friends over for summer holiday cookouts and birthday parties.
From a very young age, Rick was a fan of all sports – especially the Indians and Cavs. He would enjoy a range of spectator sports from college sports to pro sports, car racing, Olympics, hockey, bowling, golf, tennis – if it was a sport - he would watch it! Rick started bowling on his high school team and continued to be on men's and mixed leagues until he passed. He also loved rock music and attended many concerts with his friends at the Coliseum, Blossom Music Center and the Cleveland Stadium.
Bonnie will always remember her brother being there for her and the enjoyment Rick had buying unique and "annoying" gifts for his nephew Joey! "Rick, your life was cut too short and I will miss not having you in my life to grow old with and see our kids grow up together. I will lean on my memories of you to keep you alive in my heart," Fondly, your sister Bonnie.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 936 N. Main Street; Pastor Bud Couts officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
