MICHAEL VIRGIN “Mikie” BOWARD, JR., 49, of Halfway, MD, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at his home. He was born on Dec. 21, 1965, in Hagerstown, MD, to Michael Virgin Sr. and Patsy Irene Taylor Boward of Halfway, MD.
Mikie graduated from Washington County Job Development Center at Kemp Horn in Smithsburg, MD. After graduation, he went to work at The ARC of Washington County in Hagerstown, MD. He was a lifelong member of Downsville Christian Church, Downsville, MD. He was a social member of the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway, MD, and a social member at Independent Junior Engine Co. 3 Hagerstown, MD, where he was the honorary member of the year for 2015. He was also an honorary member of the Pack Horse Hunting Club.
He was involved in Washington County Special Olympics for close to 40 years.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Michele V. Boward of Tamarac, FL; and many other family members.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Dolores Boward, and Carl and Fannie Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at Downsville Christian Church . Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Arrangements were by the Osborne Funeral Home.
