Clarence Copeland, 70, of Piedmont passed away November 21, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Services will follow at 1:00 P.M., also at the chapel. Burial will be at Carson Hill Cemetery near Mill Spring, MO. He was born August 22, 1945, in St. Charles, MO, to John Copeland and Helen Leach. He attended high school at Laramie, WY, and also at Ellsinore, MO.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by, his first wife of over forty years Barbara Ann Smith, a brother James Copeland, and a step child Terry Woods.
Clarence is survived by; his wife Mary Copeland of Piedmont, a son John Copeland of Wasilla, AK, a step-son, Wayne (Leah) Woods of Oates, five daughters, Eugena "Geni" (Kirk) Decker of Valdez, AK, Geraldine "Geri" (Clifford) Ness of Sitka, AK, Gudith (Jonathon) Dolan of Anchorage, AK, Gacqueline "Gaci" (James) Vascherault of Jacksonville, NC, and Gennifer (Tim) Inness of Ravenden Springs, AR, and a step-daughter Candice (Alan) Cates of Lake Sherwood. Other survivors include; grandchildren, Daniel Eugene, David Everett, Andrew Thomas, Jessica Lynn, Kyle James, Kaylee Michaela, Jonnie Alexandra, Elisabeth Maryann, Tesia Gabrielle, Tyler Lane, Kerrin Blaise, Miranda James, Cynthia Marie, Eric Eugene, Michael Dean, Kyla Michelle, Karra Marie, Kirklen Matthew, Kayde Malachi, and Megan, step-grandchildren, Hannah, Brandon, Ashlyn, Sarah, Abbey, Sydney, Kasey, Kodee, and Dana, three great-grandchildren, Tanner Lee, Izzabella Aspen, and Peter Thomas, step-great-gandchildren Bryce, Jayden, Tristan, and Lilly, four brothers, Jerry (Charlotte) Copeland of Green River, WY, Kenneth (Cindy) Copeland of St. Louis, MO, Gary Dean Copeland of Lusk, WY, and John Michael (Deborah) Copeland of Kemmerer, WY, and two sisters, Virgie (Ronald "Mouse") Miller of Piedmont, MO and Barbara (Steve) Lucas of Farmington, MO.
Clarence was a Staff Sergeant in the Marines and retired after twenty years of service. His duties in the Marine Corps included being a Drug and Alcohol counselor and the administrative chief radio operator. His civilian jobs were, being a truck driver, coal miner, and a security guard. Clarence moved to Alaska in 1996, he also lived in SanDiego, San Clemente, Oceanside, New Orleans, New Jersey, MI, and Okinawa, Japan. He attended Ijames Hill General Baptist Church. He had a passion for reading anything; the last book he read was "The Story" by Max Lucado. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling to Wyoming, shopping with Mary, playing cards, hunting, fishing, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos. But, most of all; he loved to spend time with his family.
Visitation was held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Services followed at 1:00 P.M., also at the chapel. Burial was at Carson Hill Cemetery near Mill Spring, MO. Pastor Bob Smith and John Copeland ministered to the family. Genice, Sean, and Shaylin Montgomery performed three songs for the service. Kerrin Copeland, John Copeland, Geni Decker, Gennifer Inness, Tim Inness, Gaci Vascherault, Wayne Woods, and Kasey Cates served as pallbearers. Eric Spiker was an honorary pallbearers
