Jerry Sears Stott, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, November 2, 2015, after a long battle with IPF.

He was born June 11, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Don Lance Stott and Viola Sears Stott. He graduated from Highland High School in 1960, served a mission in 1961 in the Gulf States, graduated from Westminster College in 1977, and graduated with his Master's degree from BYU in 1981. He started running track when he was 17 and continued to run until he actually qualified and finished third in the mile at the Olympic trials in Mexico City. He loved all sports and chose to become a teacher and coach as his profession.

He married Suzanne Packer, November 24, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 3 children and 4 unbelievably, fantastic grandchildren. All were top priorities in his life and he loved being 'Grandpa Jerry' to many. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in the LDS church. His favorite callings were that of Bishop and Gospel Doctrine Teacher. He and Suzanne served a mission in Kirtland, Ohio, loving their time together there.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Suzanne; children Cindee Stott, Ryan (Tawny) Stott and Kimberly (Daniel) Shirey; grandchildren Ashlyn, Austin, Jacob and Mason Stott; sisters Donelle Dickey and Beth (Jeff) White and many in laws, nieces and nephews who love him.

A viewing will be held Thursday November 5, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive. Funeral services will be held Friday November 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Big Cottonwood Stake House 1750 East Spring Lane with a viewing from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Special thanks to Dr. Lara Hardman and Jennifer of CNS who lovingly took care of him for many years.
