OBIT: Hans Harder was born in Krommenort, Schleswig Holstein Germany on May 28, 1861 and died suddenly with heart failure at his home near Kahlotus on May 3, 1928. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dora Harder and four children, John, George, Katherine and Harry, one brother Jacob Harder of Adams county and one sister and family in Germany. .
Sometime before, Mr. Harder had expressed his wish to have his funeral in his yard under the trees. A large crowd from far and near gathered Saturday afternoon to pay their last respect to their friend and neighbor. It was a beautiful afternoon and a very impressive ceremony under the stately trees and beside the babbling waters which he loved so well and the wild ducks which he had tamed and fed, flying over and swimming in the brook nearby..
Rev. Messerli of Kennewick, pastor of the Lutheran church of which Mr. Harder was a life long member, preached the funeral. the school chorus from Kahlotus sang. Many beautiful floral pieces of all sizes and kinds bespoke the sympathy of his many friend. Mr. Harder was a devoted husband and affectionate father; a good neighbor and a worthy citizen. He was laid to rest in the family cemetery near his house. The sympathy of the entire countryside go out to the bereaved ones in their great loss.---By correspndent. .
