Major League Baseball Player. For seven seasons (1957 to 1963), he was a pitcher with the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers. Born Robert Carl Anderson, he attended Hammond High School in Indiana and played collegiate baseball at Western Michigan University. Signed by the Cubs as an amateur free agent in 1954, he marked his Major League debut on July 31, 1957 and pitched in eight games that year. He produced a career-high twelve wins in 1959. In 246 regular season games, he compiled a 36 win, 46 loss record with a 4.26 lifetime ERA in 840 innings-pitched. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a steel salesman.
