Ruby Irene Smith was born April 13, 1939 in Iowa City; daughter of Lewis and Marie (Stockman) Smith. She graduated from Tiffin High School in 1957 and married Carson Potter on March 16, 1959. She worked for many years as a supervisor with the Visiting Nurses Association. She was a longtime member of the Oxford United Methodist Church.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harry and Leo Smith; sister, Barbara Smith; son, Duaine Potter; grandson, Matthew Potter and great-grandson Tyler Hora.
