John was born in Larksville on Oct. 15, 1942. He was the son of the late Anthony
and Catherine Barnowski Belsky.
John graduated from Larksville High School, Class of 1960. He was a U.S. Marine
Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, until his honorable discharge in 1966. He was
a member of Larksville American Legion Post 655.
After the service, John was a welder and worked for several companies in the
area. Later he worked for the carpenters union and retired as a millwright from
Local 645 in October 2004.
On Oct. 2, 1965, he married the former Marlene Haracz. John was a devoted family
man who enjoyed spending his time with his beloved family. John enjoyed coaching
his sons in Little League baseball, he served as a Webelo leader in the Cub
Scouts. He adored his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.
John also enjoyed camping, fishing and sports. He was an avid Philadelphia
Phillies, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony
Belsky.
John is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marlene Belsky; sons, John
Belsky Jr. and his wife, Kari, and Joseph Belsky and his wife, Tammy;
grandchildren, Ashley, John, Emily, Ethan, Eli, Sadie and Morgan; sisters, Nancy
McDermott and Lorraine Belsky and her companion, Jack; brother, Robert Belsky
and his wife, Terry; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Menio and staff, Geisinger Henry Cancer
Center, Commonwealth Home Health, Hampton House Nursing Home and Heartland
Hospice for their compassion and their excellent care of John.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from Andrew Strish Funeral
Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 9:30 a.m. in All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Entombment with military honors
will be held in Mary Mother of God Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover
Township. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9
a.m. Thursday.
