Elizabeth "Betty" Eissfeldt was born on May 28, 1923 in Boston, MA and passed away on July 5, 2022 in Charlotte, NC. She is survived by her children, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eissfeldt was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Helen Bayley; brothers, Robert and William Bayley; husbands, Rev. Gerhard Leverenz and Rev. Raymond Eissfeldt; daughter-in-law, Dr. Christine Leverenz and grandson, Peter Leverenz.
Mrs. Eissfeldt graduated from Boston College School of Nursing and served briefly in the US Army, discharging in 1945 in order to care for her mother. She served as a registered nurse for all her career, primarily as an emergency room nurse.
She was a member of Living Saviour Lutheran Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. While in Danville IL, she had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and later when living in Paris IL was a member of the Lutheran church there. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, knitting and embroidery. She loved celebrating and decorating for all the holidays. Mrs. Eissfeldt was a woman of strong Christian faith and always trusted in the Lord Jesus, her Savior.
She was always very curious about the world around her and wanted to keep up with what was going on throughout the world. She read everything from National Geographic to Consumer Reports and faithfully watched her favorite cable news network channel.
She was extremely generous, always looking for ways to help others with her time, talents, and donations.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. on August 2, 2022, at Living Saviour Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC with burial in Danville, Illinois on August 4. Plans are to have a small reception in Paris, Illinois, with time & date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Mrs. Eissfeldt's name to Living Saviour Lutheran Church in Charlotte, or to the Susan G Koman Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
