Jackie William "Jack" King, 76 years, 1 month and 16 days of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, September 26th, 2014 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center following a hard battle with cancer.
Jackie was born in Somerset, Kentucky on Wednesday, August 10th, 1938, son of the late John William King and Savannah Florence Stone King. Jackie was a plumber, electrician, heating & air conditioning installer, and a blown-in Insulator man. He was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed hunting, searching for arrowheads, and raising chickens, ducks, guineas, and goats. Jackie never met a stranger and touched the lives of all those who were honored to have known him.
Jackie was survived by his loving wife, Sheila C. Goff King; three sons, Anthony King, Johnny King, and Dewayne (and Jennifer) King; one daughter, Savannah (and Steven) Jasper; one brother, Euford C. King; one sister, Pauline Hurston; one grandson; five granddaughters; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John King and Florence King, who departed this life on July 3rd, 1976; one brother, Edward "Ed" King, who departed this life on April 23rd, 2010; and two infant sisters, Lucie A. "Pearl" King, who departed this life on October 17th, 1932 and Myarl L. King, who departed this life on December 2nd, 1927.
Visitations were held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29th, 2014 at the Morris and Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29th, 2014 in the Chapel of the Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Massey officiating.
Musical selections were: How Great Thou Art, Old Rugged Cross, Homesick, Daddy's Hands, I'll Fly Away, and Amazing Grace.
Burial followed in the West Somerset Baptist Church Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
